Paulo Dybala has been officially announced as a new Roma player. The Argentine has taken up the number 21 shirt at his new club, despite having the blessing of Francesco Totti to take up the number 10 shirt.
The forward has avoided the pressure of wearing the shirt of the greatest icon in the club’s history. Nemanja Matic, who joined the club recently, had taken up the number 21 shirt. But, the midfielder has now moved to the number 8 shirt at the club instead.
Can Paulo Dybala bring the glory days to Roma?
The Argentina international has been signed on a three-year deal until 2025, which includes a release clause. The player was convinced by Jose Mourinho to join the club after Inter Milan decided not to complete his signing.
The player is expected to form a strike partnership alongside Tammy Abraham. Or, in Mourinho’s system, he could also operate behind the pair of Abraham and Nicolo Zaniolo.
Paulo Dybala is noted for his work rate and his finishing and skills, which will surely be a great addition to the team. Alongside Abraham, he will be tasked with scoring the much needed goals heading into the new season.
Things are looking promising under ‘the special one’ ahead of the new season. Their Europa Conference League win at the end of the 21/22 campaign will also be a big boost to the team’s confidence. Dybala might not be able to single-handedly bring Serie A glory to the Italian capital. But, he can play an important role in the team as they try to achieve their ambitions.
