The 19-year-old English midfielder Jude Bellingham is currently known as one of the most talented youngsters in the world footballer. While many top European clubs are targeting him aggressively at the present moment, his current German club Borussia Dortmund has clarified that they can only consider his transfer if the offer comes above £103million (€120million). Now, the question is he really worth it?
Jude Bellingham just celebrated his 19th birthday this Wednesday (29th June). He is a talented youngster for Borussia Dortmund, where he joined in 2020 summer. His present contract with the club will run till 2025 summer.
Jude Bellingham’s early career
Bellingham proved his talent at an early age as the Birmingham City academy footballer served for England U15, EnglandU16, England U17 and England U21 before he made his debut for the senior England national football team in November 2020. He has already made 15 international appearances in his senior career, including six times in starting XIs.
During his first season (2019/20) in senior club football, Bellingham won the EFL Young Player of the Season award as well as the Championship Apprentice of the Year award for his excellent service to Birmingham City.
Then Bellingham moved to Borussia Dortmund by creating history as the all-time most expensive 17-year-old footballer in the world. He maintained his excellence status from the early period of his new German club. He was the VDV Bundesliga Newcomer of the Season for 2020/21 and included in the VDV Bundesliga Team of the Season for 2021/22.
During the Ballon d’Or 2021 award, Bellingham finished as the second-best for the Kopa Trophy 2021 (best performing player under the age of 21). Very similarly, he ended in the second position for the Golden Boy 2021 award (a yearly award for a young footballer playing in Europe through the vote of sports journalists).
Borussia Dortmund are correct according to the football market
So, there is now no doubt about Bellingham’s high transfer value. Recently, CIES Football Observatory published the top 100 estimated transfer values for players worldwide. Jude Bellingham was in fifth position (second among the midfielders) in that list with a valuation of €133.7million. So, Dortmund’s minimum asking price for the English footballer is lower at present.
According to media reports, the top English Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United, and the Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid are desperately chasing this talented youngster.
