    Natalie Aspinall going to be the second Premier League female official

    Natalie Aspinall is now among the four officials who have been promoted to the English Premier League for the upcoming season 2022/23. With the getting this role, Aspinall is now the second female assistant referee in this division along with Sian Massey Ellis. At the end of the 2021-22 season of the Premier League,  the experienced trio of Jonathan Moss, Mike Dean, and Martin Atkinson retired, which created space for young and aspiring talents to come up for the role, and the same is happening.

    Natalie Aspinall has been in this profession since 2016 while running the EFL, joined as her fellow assistant referees including Steve Meredith, and Nick Granhalgh being promoted to the English football’s top flight. On the other hand, Tom Bramall has been charged as the main official, and who played the role of a referee in the EFL since 2014.

    Mike Riley, the managing director of the PGMOL – Professional Game Match Officials Limited, said that they are very delighted to welcome Natalie, Tom, Steve, and Nick into the Select Group One for the upcoming 2022-23 season. He also said that this is a fully deserved as well as a great opportunity for Tom, who not only has performed well over the years, but has also progressed a lot, and will now officiate at the top level of the game.

    Besides, Natalie, Steve, and Nick are experienced assistant referees too and have earned their spot at this position, he added. He also added that Natalie Aspinall is a fantastic ambassador for English refereeing on the international level, has become the second female assistant referee to work in the English Premier League, and will work alongside Sian Massey-Ellis, who is her colleague in the Select Group One.
