FC Bengaluru United are ready to welcome the Spanish La Liga club Sevilla FC, which is also the international partner of this Indian club. This upcoming meeting is going to be very exciting for Indian football.
FC Bengaluru United is a Bengaluru-based Indian football club founded in 2018. While they participated in the I-League 2nd division in the 2019/20 season, they recently launched their women’s team last March on the occasion of women’s day for participating in the KSFA B Division. In the 2020 and 2021 seasons, FCBU won the back-to-back BDFA Super Division trophies.
Sevilla FC and FC Bengaluru United partnership
In March 2021, Sevilla FC and FC Bengaluru United signed a five-year partnership deal. According to this deal, while Sevilla will try to strengthen their presence in the Indian market, the Indian club will get the chance to learn from the Spanish club’s sporting experience.
Due to this deal, FCBU’s first team and academy are now wearing Sevilla FC’s traditional white and red colours in their kits.
This deal is also helping them to explore setting up the shared footballing schools in Karnataka. Sevilla are offering sports consultancy service to this Indian football club as the Spanish club is ready to help them in sport management, analysis, talent spotting, player development and optimisation of performance and usage of sports technology.
Apart from exploring more football projects in Bengaluru, they are also working together in corporate social responsibility programmes in India.
Sevilla team coming to India
Now, the top leadership team of Sevilla FC, including their President Jose Castro Carmona, is ready to visit Bengaluru. This tour has been scheduled between 7th June and 11th June 2022.
The Spanish club is expected to announce several interesting projects in collaboration with FCBU. They have also jointly launched ‘Football Hackathon – Data Driven Players Performance Assessment’. This online competition is ready to run from 10th June to 13th June 2022.
According to the information of Analytics Vidhya, “This Hackathon will be a unique opportunity to effectively use data science in the space of professional football scouting and player performance analysis and enhancement and are excited to have you on the journey.”
