David de Gea emerged as the best player for Manchester United in the 2021/22 season

Reports state that Manchester United’s star goalkeeper David de Gea has emerged as the best player for the Red Devils for the 2021-22 campaign. The Spaniard has been named as the club’s player of the season, after an inspiring season on an individual basis. Last season only, David de Gea’s future remained uncertain at Old Trafford however ironically he bounced back with his brilliance to gain his own number one spot again.

De Gea started in the maximum of United’s 38 Premier League games this season and was indeed very much wonderful as well as consistent in between the sticks. Despite the fact that his teammates were a bit disappointing this season, but still, David de Gea didn’t fail to impress fans as well as Manchester United’s management every time. With this, the Spaniard has now four POTY awards in his pocket for United.

    David de Gea’s performance

David de Gea indeed showcased an impressive performance this season, for which he was the most deserving candidate for the POTY award. He won the Premier League Player of the Month for United in January 2022 with some of his brilliant performances. He also became the first goalkeeper to secure the monthly prize since February 2016, when Fraser Forster of Southampton claimed it.

However, De Gea kept only eight clean sheets last season in the Premier League, still, he was regarded widely as the best player in United. The stopper single-handedly as well as on frequent intervals won points for his club, and add to that, he was also responsible for preventing the defeats which could have been more embarrassing. Post phase to an excellent season, De Gea is almost certain to stay at Man United and start as Erik ten Hag’s no. 1 choice.
