IPL 2022: RCB defeats LSG by 14 runs and books ticket to Qualifier 2

RCB defeats LSG at the iconic Eden Gardens in the eliminator, by 14 runs, and thus confirms their spot for Qualifier 2, where they will be seen locking horns with the loser of Qualifier 1, Rajasthan Royals. Credit goes to Rajat Patidar for his impressive century, and also to the other RCB players. They batted first, and put up a mammoth score of 207 on the scoreboard, losing 4 wickets. LSG coming to bat played well, but was limited to 193, losing 6 wickets. Here are 3 factors that helped RCB to secure the win.

    Rajat Patidar’s century

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis got out in the first over. Rajat Patidar coming in a first down, played an impressive knock of 112 in 54 balls with 12 fours and 7 sixes, with a strike rate of 207.41. He took the game to next level and didn’t allow them to feel the pressure of their captain getting out early. Also, Virat Kohli supported him initially scoring 25 of 24.

    LSG fielders dropping catches

There’s a common saying that catches win matches. However, LSG wasn’t much good on the field in this match, as they dropped two catches on Rajat Patidar, who later scored a magnificent century. The first one was dropped by Deepak Hooda, and the second one was dropped by the skipper KL Rahul himself. Certainly, you can’t win a knockout match like an eliminator by dropping two catches on a man who received the man of the match award later on.

    RCB bowlers doing the work

Though the RCB bowlers went for runs, as Lucknow also scored a massive 193, they also picked up wickets when necessary. Also, when you’re chasing a score above 200, you need a team effort, but from LSG only KL Rahul and Hooda played significantly well, but others were not able to stand for long, giving credit to the RCB bowlers.
