Evil Dead: The Game has reportedly sold over 500,000 copies within 5 days of its release

Evil Dead, an asymmetric multiplayer horror game with a Friday the 13th theme, was launched on May 13th. Evil Dead sold over 500,000 copies in the first five days after its release, according to the Embracer Group, which owns developer Saber Interactive, and @EmbracerInvestor on Twitter.

Evil Dead: The Game was originally scheduled to be released in 2021, but it was delayed twice the first to February 2022 for refining and the addition of singleplayer, and the second to May 2022. “This delay gives our team the time they need to perfect everything,” Saber explained at the time, “so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on Friday the 13th of May.” It appears to have paid off, as Evil Dead has received better reviews than Saber Interactive’s last licensed co-op zombie shooter, World War Z.

While four players work together to achieve their objectives—whether they are movie characters or different incarnations of Ash—a fifth player stalks them like a monster. (Artificial intelligence could perform any of the roles.) The survivors are increasingly vulnerable to the demon’s attacks the more terrified they are, which include possessing one of them and using him to attack the others.

Charles, who just played Evil Dead, stated, “The demons have a lot of entertaining tricks under their rotten sleeves, and the survivors have a surprising amount of strength, making it more than simply a game of hide-and-seek. The goals require players to move rapidly at times and hold firm at others, and the advantage seems to swing back and forth between sides a few times throughout each encounter, allowing both the survivors and the demon to experience victory and terror.”

Even though Evil Dead is a multiplatform multiplayer game with crossplay, it appears like gamers are having a good time with it. The thought of a bunch of different Ashes, all led by Bruce Campbell and armed with boomsticks and chainsaws, is attractive.
