IPL 2022: DC loses against MI, and RCB qualifies for the Playoffs

Delhi Capitals loses against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium by 5 wickets, and RCB on the other hand qualifies as the fourth team for the TATA IPL 2022 Playoffs. DC tried their level best to win the match, but finally, the 5-time IPL champions were able to end the tournament on a high note. DC batted first and put up 159 on the scoreboard by losing 7 wickets, in 20 overs. MI in the second innings chased down the score successfully in 19.1 overs, i.e., with 5 balls left. Here are 3 factors that led Mumbai Indians to secure the win.

    DC’s top order failing

DC’s top order has been one of the major factors behind the team winning matches this season. However, in this match, both Warner got out soon, and Mitchell Marsh coming to bat at number 3 wasn’t able to deliver for long as well. Prithvi Shaw returning to the team also didn’t stand for long. In the middle order, skipper Rishabh Pant’s 39 of 33, Powell’s 43 of 34, as well as Axar’s 19 of 10 helped Deli reach a total of 159.

    MI batters getting runs

Mumbai Indians has been knocked out of the tournament a long time ago, but the fight for respect was still there. And they maintained their respect perfectly fine, by registering the victory on a high note. Though skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t able to score much, all the other MI batters played well and took their team past the victory line with ease.

    Tim David’s stormy 34

Tim David has been becoming an asset for Mumbai Indians. In this match, he scored a destructive 34 off 11 deliveries with 2 fours and 4 sixes, with a strike rate of 309.09. All the MI batters got runs, but it was the credit of David that the game didn’t go till the last ball, as in many matches we usually see.
