Many still await the news of the second season of the ‘Squid Game’, a series that succeeded in 2021 and became a phenomenon when it premiered on Netflix. In fact, it was the only one that was able to oust the ‘Bridgerton Family’ as the most played series in the platforms’ history.
It’s been a year since the first season aired, but we’ll have to wait a little while to find the next season for the South-Korean series.
Squid Game’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has already given some hints, revealing that season 2 of Squid Game will not be premiered until late 2023 or 2024. He said so in an interview with Vanity Fair.
There, he also admitted that he hadn’t shot anything yet, despite the show being renewed on Netflix a few months ago.
What Does Hwang Dong-hyuk Have in Mind for the Next Season of ‘Squid Game’?
Currently, he has 3 pages containing script ideas for new chapters including new games. “Humanity will be tested again through those games,” he said.
He further adds, “I want to ask a question:’Is true solidarity between people really possible?'”
His words are explained if, the viewers of the show are familiar with the plot of the first season, of surviving and running around and betraying each other many times in order to win the final prize of 45.6 billion won and be the winner. Only star Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae) showed solidarity and left the end open for the second part of the series.
The first season ended with the death of most of the protagonists, but according to the author a few months ago, there sparked the idea that the two will also appear in Season 2, “Gi-hun for sure. He will be back, and I think the leader will also be back,” he stated.
It also does not exclude the return of one of the most beloved characters in the series, who may have died in the first half.
Jung Ho Yeon, who played Kang Sae-byeok, was able to return home as her twin sister. However, this has not been confirmed, so you have to wait for the details of the hit series.
