IPL 2022: RR defeats CSK and confirms a spot in the top two in the TATA IPL 2022 Playoffs

Rajasthan Royals have defeated Chennai Super Kings and have secured a position in the top two for the TATA IPL 2022 playoffs. They will be next seen locking horns with Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1. In this match, they defeated CSK by 5 wickets, with 2 balls left. CSK batted first and put up 150 on the scoreboard with the loss of 6 wickets. RR coming to bat chased down the score successfully in 19.4 overs, losing 5 wickets. Here are 3 factors that helped RR to emerge victoriously over the yellow army.

RR bowlers slowing Moeen Ali down

Moeen Ali was destructive in his batting in the initial stage of the match, during the powerplay. He over scored 93 of 57 balls, made full use of the advantage where there are only 2 fielders outside the 30-year circle, and was destroying everyone that came in his path. Though after the powerplay he wasn’t unable to maintain that speed and the RR bowlers successfully slowed him down. He scored the first 50 in 19 balls and scored the next 43 runs taking 38 deliveries. The way Moeen was scoring runs, in the beginning, a 200+ score was sure for CSK.

    Brilliant Innings by Yashasvi Jaiswal

Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a brilliant knock of 59 of 44 balls with 8 fours and a six. Man in form Joss Buttler got out early at the score of 2, but Jaiswal handled the business well and didn’t allow any negative impact on RR’s batting. He gave a good start to Rajasthan that you always need in a T20 match, and the latter batsmen carried away the rest.

    Ashwin’s 40 of 23*

Ravichandran Ashwin came to bat at number 5 before Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag and proved why he was promoted up the order. He scored a speedy 40 of 23 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes and led Rajasthan to get past the victory line with ease. He was also awarded the man of the match for his excellence in batting as well as his bowling where he picked up 1 wicket conceding 28 runs in 4 overs.
