MS Dhoni confirmed that he will be playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 as well. During his interview to Star Sports after the toss against Rajasthan Royals, he gave the confirmation.
Here’s what he said:
“Definitely I will play. Because it will be unfair to not to say thank you to Chennai. Won’t be nice to do that to CSK Fans. I want to say thanks to Chennai and will comeback stronger next year. Whether it will be my last year or not that’s a big question because you know we can’t really predict about something two years down the line, but definitely I’ll be working hard to come back strong next year,” said Dhoni.
N Srinivasan the Super Kings’ owner, said that Dhoni would always be “part and parcel” of CSK.
“There is no CSK without Dhoni and there is no Dhoni without CSK,”
Chennai Super Kings didn’t have a happening IPL 2022, but it’s confirmed that MS Dhoni will be leading the team. it will be unfair to not play in Chennai and say thank you.
The Chennai Super Kings skipper will turn 41 in July this year, but did not rule out turning out in IPL 2024 too, saying ”you can’t predict what will happen two years down the line”.
Most of CSK’s senior players like Dhoni (206 runs), Ambati Rayudu (271), and Robin Uthappa (230) didn’t have a great IPL season and that has been the biggest failure of the Yellow army.
The bowling attack wasn’t up to par because of the absence of an injured Deepak Chahar and the inability to retain Josh Hazlewood.
