The Italian will leave the Old Lady after his 17th season in Turin. Giorgio Chiellini was honored with a standing ovation from Juventus fans in the 17th minute, representing the number of seasons spent with Bianconeri.

Soon after, the Italian proceeded to hand the captain’s armband to Paulo Dybala, who was visibly upset after playing his last home game which ended in a 2-2 draw with Lazio.

As Chiellini was about to walk off the pitch, the entire stadium stood up to pay a tribute to him with an incredible ovation. The 37-year-old embraced his teammates as Lazio players decided to join in on the applause.

Argentine Professional Paulo Dybala Broke into Tears

After spending seven seasons at the club, Paulo Dybala was replaced in the 78th minute of the match on a moving night for Argentine playmakers.

After his contract was set to expire at the end of June, it appeared the club reached a sort of agreement in December. However, they withdrew the offer in hopes of dismissing him as a free agent.

The 28-year-old strongly wished to continue in Turin and only in the last few days was it announced that he would leave the club.

“It is difficult to find the right words to greet you, there are so many years and so many emotions involved, all together”, mentioned Argentina International in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday.

“I thought we would have been together even more years, but fate puts us on different paths. I will never forget everything you made me experience, every game, every goal.”

He continued, “With you, I grew up, I learned, I lived and I dreamed. It has been seven years of magic, 12 trophies, and 115 goals that no one will take away from us. Never.”

He further added, “Thank you for supporting me in difficult times. Thanks to those who have accompanied me over the years: from the first to the last, from the fans to the people who work within the club, everyone, coaches and teammates, employees and managers.”
