Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that the company’s culture standards had recently been changed to include a new section under “creative expression.” In a nutshell, the section informs potential employees that they may be compelled to work on projects that are incompatible with their principles.

Here’s what Netflix had to say about its new Cultural Guidelines

“Not everyone will like — or agree with — everything on our service… and we let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices,” the company states in the document. “Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful. If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”

Netflix informed The Wall Street Journal that the company has spent the last 18 months talking to staff about cultural challenges. The updated criteria were created to assist job searchers to make more “informed decisions about whether Netflix is the perfect company for them,” according to the firm.

Employee dissatisfaction over Netflix’s recent comedy special from Dave Chappelle prompted the upgrade. Many employees at the organization called the comedian and The Closer transphobic. A worker walkout followed Netflix’s response to the event, which included firing a worker who reportedly divulged confidential information about the program.
