Given the positive reception to the original, a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time seems like a no-brainer, but it’s been a bumpy journey since the project was revealed in 2020. The remake’s aesthetics didn’t make a fantastic first impression, and the game was eventually delayed indefinitely early last year. It was developed by erstwhile support teams Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune. Since then, there have been few updates on the project.
After months of uncertainty, it appears that the Sands of Time Remake is back on solid ground, with the announcement that Ubisoft Montreal, the team behind the original version of the game, is once again in command…
Hello, Prince of Persia fans! The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal, the very birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy.
This decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic when it’s ready. We want to thank you all for your continuous support and patience throughout the development. Rest assured, that we will update you on the progress in a future update.
To be honest, it’s probably for the best. The Indian teams from Ubisoft appeared serious in their attempts, but if the game wasn’t coming together, it wasn’t coming together, and Sands of Time deserves a top-notch remake.
The PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake were originally announced, but it’s unclear if that’s still the case. The project is now without a release date, and it doesn’t appear to be coming anytime soon.
