Microsoft hasn’t been as clear as they might be about what platforms we’ll be able to play the game on since unveiling the eighth instalment in the Forza Motorsport series back in 2020. The PC and Xbox Series X/S were referenced at the Xbox Games Showcase unveiling, but no mention of platforms is made in the actual trailers.
A fresh leak appears to reveal the existence of an Xbox One edition of Forza Motorsport. A Redditor recently shared two Forza Motorsport graphics, claiming they are from the Xbox One version of the game. Additional information was supplied to the admins of the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, and they can confirm the shots are authentic,
Of course, just because an Xbox One build exists for the next Forza Motorsport game doesn’t guarantee Microsoft will release it. It’s possible that it was only utilized for testing purposes. However, since Sony already did that with Gran Turismo 7, Microsoft may as well do the same with Forza. Although developer Turn 10 Studios promises substantial upgrades to the game’s physics and mechanics, almost little has been publicly saying about the forthcoming Forza Motorsport…
We had sessions running in multiplayer and players were able to experience the work that we’ve done in revamping and deepening the game’s physics and our core gameplay. I’m a core mechanics guy and I think about all the things that we do when the rubber meets the road, that sort of thing, as the core of our gameplay feel that our players know and love and just making it that much better.
I’ve been kind of trying to think about how how to quantify this for everyone here without actually getting your hands on it, so to put the physics work into perspective, the changes we’ve made from Forza Motorsport 7 till now are more than the changes that we’ve made from Forza Motorsport 4 through 7. It’s a huge generational leap coming to the game.
The next Forza Motorsport does not yet have a launch window, although it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2022.
