IPL 2022: LSG secures an easy victory over PBKS by 20 runs

Lucknow Supergiants secures an easy win against the Punjab Kings by defeating them by 20 runs on Friday at Pune. It was a low-scoring match on the Pune pitch, where LSG batted first and put up 153 on the scoreboard with the loss of 8 wickets. Though 153 isn’t a big total to defend LSG did the same, and limited PBKS within 133, taking 8 of their batsmen in 20 overs. Here are 3 factors to consider from the match.

    De Kock and Hooda’s innings

Though 153 isn’t a big total to defend, the batsmen who took LSG to this total are Quntion de Kock and Deepak Hooda. South African opener Quinton de Kock played 46 of 37 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, and Deepak Hooda played 34 of 28 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes. Except for them, none of the other batsmen could reach the 20-run mark. For them, LSG reached a total that they could defend at least.

    Brilliant bowling by LSG bowlers

When you’re defending a low total of 153, you certainly need to bowl exceptionally well to successfully defend the target. Moshin Khan picked up 3 wickets, Chameera and Krunal Pandya picked up 2 and Bishnoi picked up 1. PBKS were able to play till 20 overs but was limited to 133 only.

    Breaking Livingstone and Bairstow’s partnership

Breaking the partnership of Livingstone and Bairstow was a vital moment in the game, as these two were playing well, building a good partnership. Though Moshin Khan got rid of Liam Livingstone who got caught out in the hands of Quinton de Kock, and Dushmantha Chameera caught out Jonny Bairstow in the hands of Krunal Pandya. This was one of the major factors that led LSG past the victory margin, else the story would have been different.
