IPL 2022: LSG defeats MI; the five-time IPL champions lose 8 matches in a row

Lucknow Supergiants defeated Mumbai Indians by 36 runs, and the miserable season for Mumbai Indians in IPL continues, They lost their 8th match in a row, which came against LSG, and they are still yet to win a match this year. LSG batted first and put up 168 for the loss of 6 wickets on the scoreboard. Though 168 runs isn’t a big total, but defendable; not only did they successfully defend their total, they defeated MI on a significant margin of 36 runs. Here are 3 factors to consider from the match, which led the LSG to victory.

    KL Rahul’s captain’s knock

Apart from KL Rahul, no LSG batters were able to stand for long. However, it was because of KL Rahul’s century of 103 of 62 balls, with 12 fours and 4 sixes, with a strike rate of 166.13, that helped LSG to get to a good total of 168. Also, the small innings of Manish Pandey, and Ayush Badoni helped Rahul a little bit to build a small but impactful partnership.

    Impressive bowling by LSG bowlers

Though the batting department didn’t go as a team, the bowling department indeed performed as a team. All the bowlers except Chameera picked up wickets, with Krunal Pandya picking up 3 of them. Though Dushmantha Chameera didn’t pick up wickets, he bowled four overs and conceded only 14 runs maintaining an economy of 3.50 and was the most economical among LSG bowlers.

    Body Language of MI

After losing 7 matches in a row, it didn’t look like MI were playing with positive body language, especially when they were batting. And after losing the 8th match, MI is almost out of the tournament, with miraculous chances to qualify for the playoffs.
