IPL 2022: KKR Slays Mumbai Indians with Pat Cummins’s 56 of 15

Kolkata Knight Riders simply slayed Mumbai Indians with the help of Patrick Cummins who not only scored a stormy inning of 56 of 15 balls but also now shared the record of the fastest half-century in IPL with KL Rahul. KKR won the toss and elected to bowl, and MI put up a score of 161 in 20 overs with the loss of 4 wickets. Though KKR seemed to struggle in the middle overs, in the end, Cummins made it look easy. Here are three factors that helped the knights to achieve the win.

    Cummins’s 56 of 15

As said in the first paragraph, Cummins’s 56 of 15 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes, having a strike rate of 373.33 is the prime factor behind KKR’s victory. He came in a tough situation alongside Venkatesh Iyer who also played a good knock of 50 of 41 balls. KKR’s power hitter Andre Russell got out, and the equation for the Knights wasn’t so easy. From that difficult phase, Cummins came, Cummins saw and Cummins conquered. He was given the man of the match award for his performance.

Good Bowling by KKR in the Powerplay

KKR has been doing well in the power play this season, especially Umesh Yadav who got Rohit Sharma’s wicket today inside the first 6 overs. Though the KKR bowlers conceded runs in the death overs, the power play bowling was tight, else the score registered by the Indians would have been more.

    Good Knock by Venky

Alongside Pat Cummins, Venkatesh Iyer’s 50 of 41 balls with 6 fours and one six is was also an important knock in leading Kolkata Knight Riders to victory. If his innings wouldn’t be there, then it is not known whether KKR would be able to secure 2 more points or not and move to the top of the points table.
