USMNT might miss out on their second consecutive FIFA World Cup

The USMNT (US Men’s National Team) is at great risk of missing two consecutive FIFA World Cups. The team has never been able to secure a win in an official game against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium. However, this Thursday, they will have another chance to break his horror curse, when they will lock horns against their opposition in the penultimate round for the CONCACAF Qualifiers, which is for thE 2022 Qatar World Cup.

USMNT at serious risk

Gregg Berhalter-led USA National Team has one of the best groups of players in its history in terms of the teams they play for. However, despite having some wonderful players, they have not been able to show impressive performance till now, and with three games to go before the three CONCACAF representatives, which will have a direct ticket towards the FIFA 2022 World Cup, and the fourth team that will represent the area against Oceania champion (most likely New Zealand) in the intercontinental playoff, the reality is that Team USA, is at high risk of once again being left out of the world biggest football tournament.

Last time, in the 2018 Russia World Cup, the USA also missed their spot in the tournament as they finished in the fifth-place below Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, and Honduras. Last time, they were not able to play in the FIFA World Cup, and if this repeats, it would indeed be a horror story for American football.

Games left for the United States

USMNT has three games remaining, out of which one is their home match against Panama and the other two are their away games against Mexico and Costa Rica respectively. Currently, the three teams are below the USMNT so the pressure is on at the Azteca Stadium on Thursday.
