The Catalan giants, Barcelona FC hasn’t wasted any time in preparing for the upcoming season of the 2022/23 campaign as the club is hoping to be back among the title race following their disappointing year in this season. Reports state that Camp Nou has already closed three signings virtually ahead of this summer.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona is once again targeting the Bosman market for saving funds with Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, as they both have agreed to join Barcelona once their contracts end with AC Milan and Chelsea respectively on June 30, 2022.
The third player in the list of upcoming seasons’ signings is Noussair Mazraoui, as the Ajax right-back is also available in this Bosman deal this summer. This Bosman deal is almost finished, however, there still needs to be some minor negotiations before the agreement is finally signed.
Laporta following the benchmark
Joan Laporta is following the benchmark of their strategy last summer, as they signed Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Sergio Aguero on Bosman deals. Apart from focusing on the Bosman deals, Barcelona is also focusing on some other players and will try their level best to sign them. They are focusing on the veteran defender Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea. Reports state that he will come from the Bosman deal too.
Performance of the club
Barcelona is trying to have a re-birth in football, with some young talented players. The young bloods are doing well but somehow couldn’t get past the veterans. For the year 2021-22, they finished third in the La Liga points table. Though they were in a worse position before Xavi Hernandez came as the manager and helped things get slightly better. Barcelona will certainly look forward to striking back in the next season with full homework done and bringing back their old glorious times.
