Indian superstar Sunil Chhetri is yet to register a goal in the Indian Super League, or even perform an assist in the current campaign of the season. Chhetri has played several games in the ISL, and has spent a total of 515 minutes on the pitch, however couldn’t get the final finish.
The captain of the ISL team, Bengaluru FC, is one of the best in this business and is known for his consistent goal scoring form. Currently, he has registered 47 goals to his name and dwells in the second position of having the most goals in the history of ISL. Despite all his records and stats, he has struggled to score a goal this season and have missed two penalties as well.

Marco Pezzaiuoli, the coach of Bengaluru FC, even took him off the field in the 60th minute in their match against Kerala Blasters. Chhetri was also dropped from the starting XI, in their match against tough contenders like ATK Mohun Bagan. Pezzaiuoli said in this regard that it is not about Sunil Chhetri. He thought that it was a good chance for that particular game. I count upon the injury of players who are performing well and have a good squad.
Hard times of the captain
This is not the first time that Sunil Chhetri is suffering from a low form. It happened twice before when he failed to score a goal between November and December 2015, and November and January of 2018 and 2019 respectively.
In his 2015 ISL campaign, while playing for Mumbai City FC, he took 769 minutes to register his first goal and took 728 minutes to break his goalless streak in the 2018/19 campaign. Fans are eagerly waiting for his time to come back and it is certain that when his form comes back any other opposition that comes in between will be completely demolished.
