Unmukt Chand becomes the first Indian male cricketer to appear in the Big Bash League!

Indian cricketer Unmukt Chand becomes the first male player of the country to take part in Australia’s Big Bash League. He has signed a deal with the two times BBL champions Melbourne Renegades who lifted the trophy in consecutive seasons of 2018 and 2019.

Unmukt Chand has gained experience from IPL, and he also helped India to lift the U-19 World Cup. The 28-year-old cricketer retired from Indian cricket to take part in the Major League Cricket in the USA. At present, he is free in the other domestic leagues including BBL.

Experience of Unmukt Chand

As said, Unmukt Chand has gained plenty of experience from the U-19 World Cup as well as from the Indian Premier League. He has represented three teams in IPL including Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals and has appeared for 21 IPL matches scoring 300 runs. Overall, he has performed in 77 t20 matches and has more than 1500 runs with three centuries.

David Saker in this regard

The current coach of the Melbourne Renegades, David Saker said in this regard that Unmukt Chand will bring a wealth of cricket experience. He further stated that to have a player like him who has been in three IPL teams and has helped his country to become the champions at U-19 WC, is indeed fantastic.

Unmukt Chand as a batter is certainly dynamic and holds the ability to change games quickly. He has spent most of the part of his career at the top of the order, but they also believe that a player like him bears the flexibility to get fit in a variety of roles, that they need, he added.

It is a much-awaited thing to see Unmukt Chand playing at the Big Bash League, being the first male Indian cricketer to do so. Besides, various Indian women cricketers have been in this league for years.
