Following Barca’s 1-0 defeat against Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga last Wednesday, the club sacked their manager Ronak Koeman. With 15 points out of 10 games, they are placed eight at present in the league table. Benfica and Bayern Munich defeated the Catalan giants too, in the Champions League. Koeman, the former legendary Barcelona player didn’t have a good time as a manager of the club. Now, the authorities are looking to replace his position with five potential names coming up on the list.

Barcelona president John Laporta is very interested in appointing the former club captain, the legendary Xavi Hernandez, as the new manager. Reports suggest he has even started with negotiations. Even Hernandez himself expressed his desire earlier to manage his former club. However, considering his current tenure with AI-Sadd his entry as a Barcelona manager would be questionable.
Roberto Martinez is another name coming up amidst the speculation to join Barcelona as the manager. He led Wigan to lift the FA club. However, Martinez has expressed his desire to be with Belgium until the next world cup.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst
Bronckhorst, another former Barcelona player’s name, is also considered to be a potential replacement for Koeman. However, he has been out of work since December 2020, after resigning from Guangzhou R&F.
After Juventus sacked him last summer, Andrea Pirlo has been out of work. However, his name is also suggested and the club might approach him to replace Koeman in the managerial position.
Erik Ten Hag
