Kolkata Knight Riders pick up their win against Royal Challengers Bangalore to get to qualifier 2 to play against the Delhi Capitals. KKR defeated RCB by 4 wickets with 2 balls left and it was certainly an absolute thriller which the fans got to see. Though it was again a low-scoring game at Sharjah, it didn’t leave the audience disappointed with the lack of entertainment.
RCB won the toss and batted first. Initially, RCB got a good start with Kohli scoring 39 of 33, and his fellow opener Devdutt Padikkal scored 21 of 18. Lockie Fergusson gave the first breakthrough to KKR, where Padikkal got played on.
And then, magician Narine after a long time showed his efficiency where he picked up all three-star batsmen, including Virat, De Villiers, and Maxwell, along with dismissed Srikar Bharat too. Though RCB managed to get to a total of 138 with the loss of 7 wickets, which is considered to be a good score in Sharjah pitch.
In reply, KKR also had a good start, though Venkatesh Iyer played much slower than usual. He scored 26 of 30 balls with only one six. Though on the other hand, Shubhman Gill had a good start scoring 28 of 18 balls with 4 fours. The required run rate was never much high, but the pressure was there still. Though Sunil Narine today came to bat at number 4 and went after Dan Christian with the first three consecutive sixes, and release the pressure.
Though RCB bowlers came back efficiently and in the last 6 balls, 7 runs were needed, with only Morgan and Shakib batting. Shakib hit the first ball with a scoop shot for four runs, and then, KKR secured the victory with ease. Probably this was the last time fans got to see Virat Kohli as the captain of RCB ever.
