Shang-Chi has become the first pandemic-era film that has surpassed $200 million in the US box office

It will be an understatement if we say that the pandemic had been tough on theatres. All are still working on it, but the success of the film named Shang-Chi and the Legend Of the Ten Rings is proof that the movie theatres are still working and it will not go anywhere just yet. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel studio’s martial arts flick’s new movie has become the first film that has crossed the mark of $200 million at the domestic office.

Shang-Chi is Disney’s other spring and early summer offerings, which have been exclusively premiered on theatres. Black Widow, Jungle Cruise, and Cruella both have been debuted simultaneously on Disney+ Premier Access and also in theaters, calling any box office numbers they scored into question.

THR notes that Shang-Chi has done great not only just because of pandemic-era standards but also all on its own, too. The film has set a new Labor Day record with its four-day openings of 94.7 million, and as the second-biggest opening of 2021 by leaving behind Marvel’s own Black Widow.

All over the world, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have crossed $360 million in sales of tickets and are now heading for the box office number of Black Widow’s i.e. $378.4 million. Marvel’s has also scheduled for this year the Eternal’s, which is set to be released on 5th November, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which premieres on 17th December 2021.
