RCB pick up an easy win over RR, at the Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday. The Royal Challengers were completely dominant over the Rajasthan Royals and defeated them by 7 wickets with 17 balls left. Though it was thought that it will be a royal clash, however, it seemed like a one-sided win. RCB gained two more points to strongly determine at number 3 in the points table.
Initially, at first, it didn’t seem like the RCB are really on the game. Rajasthan is explosive in their batting till the first 10 overs. RR’s openers including Evin Lewis scored 58 of 37 with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Alongside him, young star Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 31 of 22 with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
When these two were batting it seemed like the 200 run mark would be achieved for the first time in the second phase of the Indian Premier League. Though after their dismissal, gradually after 10 overs no one could stand for long and they were able to score 149 with the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, RCB was very much dominant over them from the starting. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal gave a good start to their team scoring 25 of 20 and 22 of 17 respectively. With their dismissal, Srikar Bharat and Glenn Maxwell handled the job and made a good partnership.
The race to the playoffs
Bharat scored 44 of 35 and Maxwell scored 50 of 30 balls, helping their team to get past the score with ease. With this victory, RCB’s road to the playoffs is a bit closer, whereas RR’s road to the finals is almost gone. RR has only 3 matches left and is currently in the 7th position with 8 points.
To qualify they need to win all the games with extremely high run rates. Though it still won’t be assured their qualification to the playoffs, as their contenders including KKR, PBKS, and MI need to lose all the matches.
