Kolkata Knight Riders secured another victory in their IPL campaign by defeating Delhi Capitals in a low-scoring match. The match took place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, where fans get to see both high and low score matches, but the one thing people get to see here is an absolute thriller. This match was also not an exception from the same. Both the teams gave a tough fight to each other, but in the end, the KKR laughed the victory smile.
First, Kolkata opted to bowl, and they limited the Delhi Capitals to 127 only for the loss of 9 wickets. The three good scores for the Capitals are, Shikhar Dhawan, who secured the orange cap again, scoring 24 of 20, Steve Smith, who played a good knock of 39 of 34, and also Rishabh Pant’s knocks of 39 and 36 helped his team to reach this total.
In reply, the knight club started well, though Venkatesh Iyer got out earlier in 14, bowled by Lalit Yadav. The match was in for of KKR when suddenly their batting collapsed a little. Rabada came to bowl in the eleventh over and bowled 5 dot balls to Shubhan Gill. Frustrated by not being able to rotate the strike, he played a lofted shot and gave a catch to long-off. Also, Morgan scored a duck, dismissed by Ashwin.
However, Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik handled the job and pulled the required run rate down again. Things were getting easier for KKR, suddenly Dinesh Karthik got bowled out by Avesh Khan, and the thrill came back to the game. Though Sunil Narine came to bat at number 7 and played an extraordinary cameo inning under pressure scoring 21 of 10 balls with 2 sixes and a four.
With this victory, KKR is still very much in the race for the playoffs. They will next lock horns with the Punjab Kings on 1st October at the Dubai International Stadium.
