CSK defeated MI in the first match of the second phase of the Indian Premier League. Though the match was a pure thriller at some point of the time in the match. However, apart from that, it was more or less an easy win for the yellow army.
It was the 30th match of the season, by the completion of which the tournament completed half of it. The best two teams locked horns for the second time in this season. The first one was an absolute thriller where the 5-time IPL champions achieved victory, and in this match, CSK won by 20 runs.

CSK at first won the toss and elected to bat. Initially, MI had a brilliant start, when they got both Duplessis and Moeen Ali out, and the score was 1 for 2. Also, Rayudu got retired hurt from the fast bowling of Adam Milne, and Raina along with MS Dhoni was not able to stand for long.
From that moment of collapsing wickets, Jadeja and Ruturaj made a good partnership and helped their team to come out of the collapsing situation. Jadeja scores 26 of 33 balls, holding one end and giving Ruturaj to play freely. The 24-year-old played exceptionally well, scoring 88 of 58 balls with 4 sixes and 9 fours. Also, Dwayne Bravo’s cameo innings of 23 from 8 balls helped CSK to reach a total of 156.
MI on answer
Mumbai Indians in reply were playing much better in the beginning and had a good start maintaining the required run rate. Their star bowler Deepak Chahar gave them the first breakthrough by dismissing Quinton de Kock on 17.
From then nobody of Mumbai was able to deliver much except Saurabh Tiwary who scored 50 of 40 balls. The IPL Clasico started with a thrilling start but came to an easy end for the yellow army. Ruturaj Gaikwad was given the man of the match award for his brilliant innings.
