RRR release date got postponed again: It will be going to release when world cinema markets are up and running

RRR (Roudram Ranam Rudhiram) is an upcoming movie of Rajamouli’s that will premiere in four South Indian languages on Zee5. Its digital release will take place after 70-100 days of release in theatres. It is a fictional story based on the struggles of Telugu tribal leaders Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. In the role of Sitarama, Jr NTR essays Komaram in RRR we will see Ram Charan. In this film, we will see Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan play pivotal roles in the film who will be debuting on regional platforms.

For those who are cinema lovers there is bad news for them, those who are eagerly waiting for any updates on RRR films. We have to wait for a longer time for the upcoming magnum opus and this time, we do not even have a date. On Saturday, an announcement was made by the makers of RRR that the Jr NTR and Ram Charan film is almost ready. However, they are taking a call to not release it this year. Further, “cannot announce a new date” as theatres are indefinitely closed across the globe.

“Post production nearly done to have #RRRMovie ready by October ’21. But as known to many, we are postponing the release but cannot announce a new date with theatres indefinitely closed,” a tweet from the makers read. “We will release at the earliest possible date when the world cinema markets are up and running,” they added.

The film was initially scheduled for its release date on the 13th of October as a Diwali treat for Jr NTR and Ram Charan fans. Earlier this year, the producers of RRR has made an announcement that Netflix and ZEE5 will acquire the streaming rights of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus. Further, the producers have also made an announcement that posts the theatrical release of RRR, the film’s Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions will be made available on ZEE5. Netflix will stream the Hindi, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish, and Spanish versions of RRR.

There were also rumors that the film will have a direct OTT release, which was quashed by Pen Movies. “We would like to clarify that Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR and Attack will release in cinemas. There have been several rumors doing rounds about these films releasing on OTT platforms before cinemas which are untrue,” read the full statement.
