The 5th and final test between the Englishmen and the Indians got cancelled on Friday. This is due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the visitors’ camp. As per the courses, both BCCI and the ECB pointed fingers at the Indian captain Virat Kohli along with the coach Ravi Shastri.
There was a program organized in London regarding Shastri’s book release where health safety protocols were hardly maintained. Virat Kohli also attended the program, hence these two are primarily blamed for the cancellation of the test.
A senior BCCI official said in this regard that no one asked the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly regarding this, and no one even took permission from Jay Shah, the secretary as well. The official also added that these two men have probably thought that health safety rules are no longer maintained in the United Kingdom, but permission is still needed for executing such events.
They have been 4 test matches so far, and both the players of each team have gifted such a wonderful piece of performances by them, along with some thrilling matches. With the first match being drawn due to rain, India achieved victory in the second test at Lords. The Englishmen came back very strong in the third test, but in the fourth one, the men in blues achieved victory again.
It was a 2-1 lead for India in the series, and with the last match left, there was no chance that India could have lost the series. They could have either drew or win. However, considering the present circumstances, it might be regarded as India won the series by a score of 2-1.
Will the last test be rescheduled?
It is not sure that whether the fifth test will be rescheduled again or not. The Indian Premier League is starting from 19th September, and before that rescheduling it again, won’t seem possible. However, BCCI has sent a letter to the ECB requesting to reschedule the match. It is to be seen whether the match happens or not and who achieved the victory crown at last.
