The Italy cum Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho secured the UEFA player of the year title. He beat his fellow competitors Kevin De Bruyne and N’Golo who were also very tough competitors in this fight. However, in the end, Jorginho emerged victoriously.
Efficiency of Jorginho
Jorginho is certainly a deserving winner if we have a look at his performance both for his club and for his country. He appeared 56 times overall, combining both for his club and nation. On one hand, Chelsea won the arguably most popular football league, i.e., the Champions League, and on the other hand, he led his nation to win the latest EURO cup season as well.
Chelsea and Barca dominating the section of individual awards
Apart from Jorginho’s victory on the UEFA player of the year title, Chelsea dominated the awards section, which was to be given to the individuals for their respective performance. Edouard Mendy, the Chelsea footballer, was named the Goalkeeper of the season, and also, Chelsea’s star footballer, Kante was named as the best midfielder of the year, who was even a strong contender for the UEFA player of the season. Like Chelsea, in the Men’s section, Barcelona completely dominated in the women’s section.
