Messi’s departure from Barcelona could cost the club 137 million pounds in brand value

Joan Laporta’s fortune couldn’t have been worse in his second term at Barca. Firstly, the ex-Spanish politician left the club. Followed by that, the six-year spell of the former President of Barcelona Josep Bartomeu is also there.

In addition to that, he had to bid goodbye to Lionel Messi, the former Barca captain, as well as one of the greatest of all time. And all of a sudden at present, reports suggest that Messi’s departure from the club has cost the brand value of the club for a total of 137 million pounds.

Messi will join PSG

With this, in his emotional press conference, Messi said that he will join the French giants Paris Saint Germain. It was a very hard decision to take to leave Barca after spending most of my life there.

However, concerning Messi’s departure from Camp Nou, their business revenue of 855 million pounds could probably fall off to 778 million pounds.

Financial condition of Barcelona decreases further

With this loss of brand value, Barca would probably lose 77 million pounds in business revenue. Not only it ends here. They would lose a total of 43 million pounds in merchandise sales and t-shirt. Also, this can cost 17 million pounds on their respective match days.

Messi had been the greatest star of Barca, and without him, these consequences are not very unimaginable. He contributed to the club for approx. 20 years, and spend many memorable moments with the Blaugrana.

If he was present in the club, this would never happen, as most of the fans of Barca, came to see Messi. He was a player who attracted billions of fans, along with various managers, commercial deals, etc. However, it will be a matter to see that how Barcelona faces this situation, especially in this tough economic condition.
