Indian Hockey Team defeats Spain by 3-0 in Hockey at the Tokyo Olympics

Indian hockey team defeated Spain in Hockey at the Tokyo Olympics, at the Oi Hockey stadium South pitch, this Tuesday, by a score of 3-0 and climbed up to the second spot in their table Pool A. They lost to Australia, in their previous match, but came back brilliantly, with a jaw-dropping victory against Spain. This win has entered the Indian camp like a breath of fresh air.

The Goals scored by Team India

Rupinder Pal Singh scored the first goal for India, giving his nation a lead. He netted the goal which was a penalty stroke, from the penalty corner. After this win, they are only 3 points behind Australia, who are sitting in the first place, after winning all the matches. India achieved their second victory in 3 matches. They won their first game against New Zealand, by a score of 3-2.

Much Needed Victory for India

On Sunday, the Indian line-up most submissively lost the match against Australia by 1-7. This win straight after two days of the defeat has energized the squad. Soon after the goal by Simranjeet Singh, Rupinder Pal scored, thus helping his team take a 2-0 lead over the Spanish attack.

The second and third halves of the game went goalless, thus India retained the lead. The fourth half was again lit up with the smashing penalty corner from Rupinder, as India took the lead to 3-0. Spain looked strong with its moves. After a tough fight, it was India who held onto their nerves till the end and ended up being on the winning side.

This sensational comeback of the Indian hockey team has set high hopes among the fans. The team is all prepared now to take on the opponents in the upcoming games and land a medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
