The AFC (Asian Football Cup) dates for ATK Mohun Bagan, and the ISL (Indian Super League), dates for Bengaluru FC were disclosed recently. The two Indian football teams will lock horns with some of Asia’s best teams. It would be great as well as interesting to see, how these two teams present and perform themselves in their new respective seasons.
Group Division of the two teams
Mohun Bagan under Antonio Lopez Habas, are in Group D which is the South Zone. On the other hand, the Blues, i.e., Bengaluru FC will play under their new head coach Marco Pezzaiuoli. They are lining up against Club Eagles, the Maldivian side, to attain a position in the same group.
Bengaluru FC will collide with their opposition on 15th August to play their play-off tie. On the other hand, the matches from Group D – South Zone will take place on August 18, 21, and 24 respectively. All the actions of the play-off matches, as well as the group matches, will take place in the Maldives.
The 2016 runners-up of the AFC Cup, Bengaluru FC will go face to face with The Eagles on August 15, in the playoff match. Whoever wins the match, will join ATK Mohun Bagan FC as well as Maziya Sports & Recreation from the Maldives.
Besides, sources from the official website of the AFC said that the winner of the match will also join the 2020-21 winners of the Bangladesh Federation Cup, Bashundhara Kings in group D. The eventual group leaders of group D will advance to the single-leg inter-zone semi-final.
These games schedules in August were earlier scheduled in May 2021, at Male, in the Maldives. However, the governing authority had to postpone the program due to the second wave of Covid19.
