The former legendary all-rounder of India, Yuvraj Singh commented the name of a youngster, who has the potential to become the next captain of the Indian team, when Kohli departs. He stated about the current wicket-keeper batsman of India Rishabh Pant, who is an explosive batter, as well as saved India from many tough conditions.
Virat Kohli as the Indian Captain
The magnificent run machine Virat Kohli is the captain of the present Indian cricket team and has been doing his work well, by replacing the former Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This happened 4 years back in 2017 when VK took over MSD as the full-time captain of India and made our country a threat in limited-overs of cricket.
However, India is yet to win an ICC event under Kohli’s reign. He led India, into two ICC finals, including WTC 2019 final, and Champions Trophy 2017, and one semi-final of World Cup 2019. Kohli has still many years left at the Indian Cricket Team and might give India the victory crown of a Champions trophy. In this perspective, the former Indian all-rounder, and the architect of India’s winning of the 2011 world cup, Yuvraj Singh, commented on a young star’s name who could replace Kohli as the future captain.
Yuvraj sees the potential in Pant
Rishabh Pant has lead Delhi Capitals for the first time in IPL 2021, and he proved his efficiency. Thye was unbeaten in their 6 out of 8 games, and are now at the top of the table before the IPL got suspended due to covid-19. Pant has certainly impressed with his captaincy skills. Yuvi stated that Pant has a smart brain, which is seen in his captaincy for DC. People should look at him as the future captain of the Indian Cricket team.
Apart from being a captain, Pant has been an incredible player as well. He has played 21 tests, 18 ODIs, and 33 T20sfor India, and has scored 1403, 529, and 512 runs respectively. He is in good form at present and is expected to keep up his consistency in the upcoming India tour of England.
