U-Turn is a Hindi remake film of the South Indian film which has already been released in Kannada, Malayalam, and also in the Tamil-Telugu version. It is directed by Arif Khan. It was his debut film as a director. He has previously worked as an assistant in the films like Gunjan Saxena, 2 states, Student of the Year, and many more. This movie is the third production under Ekta Kapoor’s banner Cult Movies, the new division under Balaji Telefilms after Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa and Dibakar Banerjee’s LSD 2.
The movie U-Turn’s story in the original version revolved around an intern journalist and a police inspector who were out to arrest the criminal behind the death of a motorist who breaks the traffic rule at a particular flyover.
U-Turn was originally first released in 2016 in Kannada starred Shraddha Srinath in the lead role. It was further released as a Malayalam remake and the title of the film was Careful. It was released in the year 2017. Its Tamil-Telugu version has also released in 2018, where Samantha Akkineni has played the lead role. Both the Tamil and Telugu versions were shot simultaneously. Samantha Akkineni went on with her hits. While her performance in Family Man 2 has strengthened the actor’s position in the south film industry.
Ekta Kapoor has shared the teaser video on her Instagram handle, which shows us that the film’s tone is set for the suspense thriller. The video shows us the replication of a fast-moving vehicle with the words “All it takes is one shortcut to change the course of your whole journey. This year, think twice before breaking the rules,” and it ended with the sound of a crash.
Ekta Kapoor has also written in her caption that “After its blockbuster success in Tamil, Telugu & Kannada, coupled with awards galore, super excited for our adaptation of U-Turn! In life, there are no shortcuts. But sometimes you have to break the rules and take a #UTurn to change the course of your journey.”
