Barca is incapable of new registration this summer, without the reduction in their wage invoice, within the fresh La Liga salary cap limit. The club has been dynamic in the transfer market, initially authenticating the free transfer of Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, and Memphis Depay. The Blaugrana have also bought the Brazilian right-back, Emerson Royal, after landing the contract from the La Liga outfit.
Reportedly, at present, the club is not equipped to register new signings with La Liga, before lowering the wage amount by a massive 200 million euros. Messi’s contract with Barcelona ended on 30th June. The club president Joan Laporta is yet to finalize any deal over his renewal unless there’s a reduction in the wages.
Messi as a Free Agent
For the first time, in his 17 years long career, Lionel Messi became a free agent. The six-times Ballon d’Or winner, therefore, will be looked upon as a new signing. Barcelona is determined to keep the Argentine striker, but they will need to lessen the wages to register fresh arrivals.
Financial Problem of Barca
The process with the current departures of Fransisco Trincao (primary loan), Konrad De La Fuente, Matheus Fernandes (released), and Jean Claire Todibo has already begun. Sources claim Junior Firpo will also exit soon, making his way into Leeds United at 13 million euros. Hence, the club will unshackle 25.7 million euros depending on wages.
Matheus Fernandes’s contract termination with the club has been startling. They landed him for 10 million euros. However, he was hardly ever presented as a Barcelona player. Presumably, the Brazilian midfielder is looking to bring charges against the club as he felt the contract ended abruptly on an unfair note.
There are high chances of Phillipe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, and Miralem Pjanic leaving the club. In this case, the club frees up wages worth 65 million euros.
