The inaugural World Test Championship final will be taking place from 18th to 22nd June at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. New Zealand, after winning its series with England, topped the ICC test rankings. The Blackcaps are now the No 1 Test team in the world after surpassing India.
The top two ranked teams, New Zealand and India, will now play in the World Test Championship final. New Zealand ranked first with 123 points and India ranked second with 121 points. While Australia ranked third, followed by England and Pakistan.
ICC has now officially announced the prize money of the WTC final.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice has announced that the winner of the World Test Championship will receive US $1.6 million as prize money and the runner-up will get US $800,000. The prize money will be split between the teams in case of a draw. The winning team will also take home the Test Championship mace.
India and New Zealand both have the means to beat one another in the final, so the ICC World Test Championship promises to be an exciting one.
