Real Madrid share a new video revealing the renovations done till now at Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid has been renovating their stadium Santiago Bernabeu since 2020 as the Coronavirus pandemic stopped all type of gatherings, and the football matches are being played without fans. Los Blancos have been playing their home matches at their Alfredo di Stefano stadium – which is usually reserved for their Castilla side.

The new Bernabeu stadium will be one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, with a retractable pitch and roofs along with many other new features. Real Madrid has been released a new 4-minute video showcasing the works done at the Bernabeu till now.

Marca states about the new Santiago Bernabeu: “From a purely mechanical point of view, the engineering is stunning, with the installation of a retractable pitch, one of the huge plus points of the entire project. The stadium is now unrecognisable from the outside, highlighting the scale of the work done in the past year.”

Real Madrid plan to complete the project within 42 months without disrupting the team’s calendar. It will be ready to play in by 2023 but fans are expecting that they will be able to visit the Bernabeu in the next season when fans will be allowed to attend football matches.

The renovations are expected to cost around €500m, with the club agreeing to pay for their new stadium over 25 years without “any impact on sporting activity”. The new stadium is expected to generate an extra 150 million euros ($168 million) in revenue per year.
