Final Fantasy 16 is being developed on the PC, but two expensive expansion packs are also planned for the game to satisfy demand from those who want to read more about Clive’s experiences in Valisthea. With its tremendous critical and public acclaim and player praise for its mature themes, boss battles, action-packed fighting, and return to Final Fantasy’s medieval roots, Final Fantasy 16 raised the bar for the series.

Final Fantasy 16’s sales had Square Enix delighted, as it became one of the best-selling games in a year that saw several noteworthy releases. Naoki Yoshida, the game’s producer, promised that fans would learn more about the planned port before the end of the year, even though a PC version was essentially a given. Given Naoki Yoshida’s involvement, many Final Fantasy 14 gamers who play the MMO on the PC are probably interested in trying out Final Fantasy 16 and so constitute an important segment of the market for Square Enix to get into.

The team was working on at least two DLCs for Final Fantasy 16 that will purportedly be released on both platforms, according to Naoki Yoshida, who said in the most recent round of videos that he believed fans wanted more from the world of Valisthea and its characters.

Although it’s unclear exactly what content the pricey add-ons will cover or whether they’ll be standalone or included in the original game, fans of Final Fantasy 16 are hoping for a showdown with Leviathan and additional background on Cid in one of the DLCs.

In addition to the expansion packs, Final Fantasy 16 received free DLC for the PS5 that added new clothing for Clive and his friends as well as a glamour system for weapons that let users combine the attributes of one blade with its appearance in several combinations. Torgal’s new skin and Ambrosia, Clive’s devoted white Chocobo, receive new barding along with the alternate clothing for Clive, Joshua, and Jill.

Final Fantasy 16 is available on PS5. A PC version is in development.
